Amazon is making a small change: soon, you won’t be able to transfer Kindle books via USB to other devices. Most people never use this feature, and it’s mainly to prevent piracy. Nothing else about Kindle books is changing.
Some people are panicking because of a misleading YouTube video, but there’s no need. You still own a license to your digital books, just like always. If an author or Amazon removes a book, it disappears—this has always been the case.
Boycotting Amazon over this only hurts authors, not Amazon. If you prefer not to use Amazon, that’s fine, but don’t stop using Amazon because of misinformation!
Ebooks are still available and will still be available after this change takes place, but the percentage of people using a USB to transfer books to Kindle is minimal. You can still use the cloud as you most likely always have.
